Emma Vescio

Emma Vescio has recently been wondering about time. How long does it take to be close to someone? How much time do we have, and what are the most meaningful ways to spend our time? How can we bend and shape our time in this world and define new roadmaps for our future? Time has been the basis of much of Emma’s artistic and academic work.

Emma is an artist and teacher. She has worked for several art institutions and galleries, including Mattress Factory: Museum of Contemporary Art and Bunker Projects, an experimental gallery.

The basis of Emma’s curatorial work and her teaching practices lead with an openness to failure and experimentation. She seeks to build trust with her students so they feel comfortable with uncertainty and collective grappling. Emma uses visual art (film, photography, sculpture, and painting) as text in her classes at Premise.

Emma studied at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a BA in Art History.
