Megan Faulkner has been wondering about communities. What is a community? How do communities form? How can we create meaningful relationships? How can we best learn from and share knowledge with others?

These questions are at the core of Megan’s approach as an educator, a scientist, and a lifelong learner. Throughout her life, she has been drawn to communities built around inquiry and learning. This curiosity has led her to a research station in the Idaho backcountry, the US Senate Chamber in Washington, DC, a monastery in France, a yurt in the Rocky Mountains, and back again. With formal training in outdoor leadership, environmental education, and experiential learning theories, she looks forward to building a community with Premise students founded on dialogue, inquiry, and creativity.

Megan holds a bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts from St. John’s College and a master of science in natural resources, environmental education, and science communication from the University of Idaho’s McCall Outdoor Science School. She will join the University of New Mexico’s educational psychology department as a PhD student in Fall 2021, studying outdoor education and experiential learning within group contexts.
