Alka Kothari

Alka is a multifaceted teacher and international development specialist. For the past twenty years, she worked at the World Bank as a social safeguards specialist in the Africa region (until 2008) and monitored elections for the OSCE (seconded by the State Department) all over the former Soviet Union.

Ten years ago, Alka created Washington, DC’s premier literary Salon and Supper Club, called Hush Supper Club, leading people in discussions on a variety of political and cultural topics.

Alka worked with the Touchstones Discussion Group leading seminars, and even teaches piano.

She is passionate about ideas, politics, philosophy, and education.

Alka earned a master’s in foreign affairs, focusing on international peace and conflict resolution, at New College, Oxford.
