Jill Darley-Vanis

Jill Darley-Vanis has recently been wondering about literary genres and how genres, particularly the novel, are bending and being reborn, responding to the now in new ways.

Jill is Professor of English at Clark College in Vancouver, WA, where she’s taught and worked as a department administrator since 2000. She holds a B.A. in French and a B.A. in English from Oregon State University; she also spent time abroad at the Université de Poitiers in France, where she studied in the Faculté de Langues et Lettres. Jill earned her M.A. at Portland State University, where her focus areas were 18th and 19th-century British literature and critical theory. She later returned to Portland State during her sabbatical, resuming her work in composition theory.

Jill’s research, conference presentations, and published works focus on assignment design, transfer theory, and more equitable classroom practices.  She has published in the journal Teaching English in the Two-Year College (TETYC) and Transparent Design in Higher Education Teaching and Leadership.  More recently, she has served on the board for the journal TETYC, where she aided peers as they revised and submitted their work for publication.

Jill lives in Vancouver, Washington, where she enjoys paddle boarding, running, and travel anywhere, any time.
