Baynard wonders about the ways we can rectify the past. 



Bay is a writer living in Baltimore. 



He is the co-author of I Got a Monster: The Rise and Fall of America's Most Corrupt Police Squad and the author of Inheritance: An Autobiography of Whiteness, which will be published by Hachette in 2022.



Bay served as the long-time senior editor of the Baltimore City Paper. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, McSweeney’s, the Georgia Review, The Oxford American, and many other publications.



In 2016, Bay co-founded Democracy in Crisis and he wrote a weekly nationally syndicated opinion column on the fragility of American democracy. 



He has been an instructor at the secondary and post-secondary levels in Washington, D.C. at the Cesar Chavez Public Charter High School for Public Policy, The University of Maryland, College Park Classics Department, and the Johns Hopkins’ University graduate writing program. 



Baynard has a Ph.D. in ancient philosophy from Duquesne University
